I needed to make an appointment with a urologist to get some help with some bladder issues I was having. My primary physician made me a referral to the Associated Urologists of North Carolina. When I called their office to set up the appointment all the schedulers and office managers were VERY rude and gave me the runaround from one scheduler to another until their office closed. When I called back the next day, I continued to get the runaround and rude treatment until one scheduler finally deigned to setup an appointment for me. Only despite having an office in my hometown she insisted on scheduling an appointment with a Dr. Kasper whose office was on the other side of Wake County from my home.
In mid-July an appointment was scheduled with Dr. Kasper to discuss my bladder issues. I never felt like Dr. Kasper was listening to me during the appointment when I described my current issue or my other medical issues. Finally, he suggested a treatment that was mildly invasive. It was scheduled for about a month from my current appointment and at the end of the appointment I was given an instruction sheet for the procedure which I was told to read when I got home. When I read it, I noticed that I had two current conditions that made me unable to accomplish some of these preparatory instructions which Kasper said nothing about even though I had mentioned these conditions during our discussion. My impression from the instructions was that the pre-existing conditions I had mention during my initial appointment may or would even probably make a successful goal of the upcoming treatment impossible. The next day I called Kasper’s office to ask about this.
My call went directly to voicemail.
I left a voicemail asking for someone to recall me in order to answer my questions.
Two days later no one had responded to my call, so I called again.
My call went directly to voicemail.
Three days later no one had responded to my call, so I called again.
My call went directly to voicemail.
I will admit, two days later someone returned my call, but I was in the shower and could not get out in time to answer the call. I am in a wheelchair because my legs currently don’t work, and I cannot stand up for more than 2 or three seconds. The nurse who called me left her name and number to call her back directly which should have been fine except when I did call her back the next day…
My call went directly to voicemail.
Two days later no one had responded to my call to this new number, so I called again.
My call went directly to voicemail.
And so it went from my first call in mid-July to my last one August 15th, which always ended in voicemails that were never returned! One of the office’s operators after hearing my story spoke directly to a nurse named Kelly who told her to tell me she was helping a patient but would call me back shortly.
She never did.
Please inform Kelly for me that she is an unprofessional idiot. In fact, that sums up my opinion of all Kaspers nursing staff. I have the upmost respect for most nurses. My Mother was one and I am friends with all of them at all the other doctors I see, but your staff are all different. Please let them know that in my opinion they are all a bunch of incompetent, inconsiderate, unhelpful jerks!! I would not let a quack like Kasper supported by his staff of idiots trim my fingernails! If in pretty much a month’s time I couldn’t get a response from him or his staff over a simple procedure question what would happen if something went wrong? Every competent Doctor knows that in any invasive surgery, even minor ones, there is always the possibility of something going wrong and if it did where would that leave me when I could not even get him or his nurses to respond to a simple question? I canceled the procedure.
If you need treatment by a urologist in my opinion your best effort should be made to avoid John Kasper or any of the doctors at Associated Urologists!

I have IC my doctor is Sissy. The best person ever is Carrie. She always returns my calls. I think she is a gift from God! She always gets me in for bladder cocktails and she even gets me in at 8am so I’m not late to work. They are blessed to have her as a employee.

Dr. Chang performed surgery on me a couple of weeks ago and I can honestly say that he does an excellent job. I have read the other reviews prior to seeing him and honestly I did not percieve anything that was remotely close to no bedside manner or not listening to the patient, I found him matter of factly, honest and short and to the point. I guess alot of folks have to have their hands held and coddled in this day and time, I want honesty and someone that knows what the h#ll they are doing before cutting me open. I got that from Dr. Chang and would recommend him to any male with male issues in the urology field. Thank you Dr. Chang

Dr.E.Kheterpal is very professional, straight forward with my diagnosis and options for treatment. His expertise in his treatment lead to my fast recovery and back to a normal life style. I am very pleased with my recovery from prostate cancer and owe it to Dr. Kheterpal and his staff. If anyone is suffering from urinary issues this is the doctor that I would recommend.

My experience with Associated Urologists of North Carolina, under the care of Dr. Thomas Longo and his Physician Assistant, Chelsea Zurl, has been nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I was diagnosed with prostate cancer to my nerve-sparing robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy and beyond, their expertise, compassion, and dedication have been evident every step of the way.
Dr. Thomas Longo's reputation as a skilled urologist preceded him, and my initial consultations only reaffirmed his expertise. He took the time to thoroughly explain my diagnosis and treatment options, ensuring that I felt informed and empowered in making critical decisions about my health. His genuine concern for my well-being was evident, and I felt reassured knowing that I was in capable hands.
The nerve-sparing robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy performed by Dr. Longo was a testament to his surgical prowess. Not only did he execute the procedure with precision, but he also prioritized preserving nerve function to maximize the likelihood of post-surgery continence and potency. The seamless coordination of the surgical team and the state-of-the-art facilities further underscored the commitment to excellence at AUNC.
Throughout my recovery journey, Chelsea played a pivotal role in ensuring continuity of care and addressing any concerns that arose. Her expertise and compassionate demeanor provided much-needed support during a challenging period. From post-operative follow-ups to ongoing rehabilitation, Chelsea's attentiveness and dedication to my recovery were invaluable.
What truly sets AUNC apart is their patient-centered approach to care. Dr. Longo and Chelsea prioritize open communication, actively involving patients in their treatment plans and addressing any questions or anxieties with empathy and understanding. Their commitment to holistic healing extends beyond medical intervention, encompassing emotional support and encouragement throughout the recovery process.
In conclusion, my experience with AUNC, Dr. Thomas Longo, and Chelsea Zurl PA-C has been overwhelmingly positive. Their unwavering commitment to excellence, coupled with their compassionate approach to patient care, sets a standard of excellence in urological treatment. I am grateful for their expertise and support, which have played a crucial role in my journey towards recovery and renewed health.

Been delaying a vasectomy for over 3 years. Finally decided to pick a provider and happy I chose Dr. Bennet. He and the nurses took care of me, making sure I was prepared and executed the procedure fast and virtually painless. They made sure I was comfortable every step of the way.

Had a BPH after shouder surgery, resulting in a prolonged inability to void. Dr Kizer recommended and I had a Prostate Artery Embolization at the end of September, which was ultimately perfectly successful. The doctor and absolutely everyone we encountered at his practise were wonderful! Friendly, answered all our questions, and very kind. Thank you all!

I have been seeing Dr. Tortora for years and have been very pleased with the care I have received. I had an appointment to see him on 09/28/23, but saw a Lady who said she was helping out Dr. Tortora. I told her I thought I had a kidney stone. She thought it to be OAB and gave me drug samples. After taking for 2 weeks I passed a stone and felt great. This was not a good experience for me.

Excellent experience at this first rate practice. Was referred to Associated Urologists of NC due to rising PSA levels. Dr. Neighbors did a great job of collecting appropriate biopsies to determine cancer was present. Referred to Dr. Jalkut for options who went through them in detail. Decided on Robotic removal of prostate. Very successful surgery. Pathology showed no cancer in margins or lympth nodes. Early detection is key (watch those PSA levels and/or symptoms). Thank you Dr. Jalkut and Dr. Neighbors. I appreciate your dedication(and the staff) to patient care!

I was pleased with Dr. Jalkut and the procedure but for over two weeks I have been trying to schedule a drop off for the final evaluation and can't get anyone to give me an appointment. The post procedure documentation says an appointment is required for a drop off but no one will respond or if they do they apparently are incapable of setting up an appointment for the drop off. At one point I was directed to contact the lab directly but they were just as confused about this as I was and said that it needs to come from the office. As the patient this seems like the easiest part of the process but for some reason it is not being done. Very frustrating and still waiting ...
